Help & Advice
Brighton on the South coast is one of the UK’s most popular seaside destinations and a firm favourite with Hens and Stags. We can understand why, dubbed London by the Sea, Brighton mixes culture with fun and is a perfect place to pick for a hen weekend:
There is no reason why opting to stay in the UK should be the underdog of hen weekends, especially when you can head to Brighton and still enjoy the fun of the beach. It may not have silky sand like some of the beaches in the Med, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have just as much fun on the pebbles.
Millions flock to Brighton beach each summer, the atmosphere on the seafront is electric, from live bands performing and roller skating dogs, it’s certainly an ideal place to people spot. A perfect place for picnics and BBQs (please check the signs for where you are allowed to do this), watching the sunset is a must.
It is always fun meeting other hen and stag groups whilst on a hen weekend. There is nothing worse than heading out and being the minority in bars and clubs, no one quite understanding the special night out you are on. Brighton is a hen and stag haven hundreds of hen and stag groups travel into the city every year, so you can rest assured that you will not be the only hen group out on the town.
Brighton has a thriving nightlife, most hen and stag groups head to the busy West Street area which is a stone throw from the station and the beach. West Street is filled with bars and nightclubs including Vodka Revolution Bar, Hed Kandi Bar and Oceana. There are lots of other fantastic pockets of the city that are also great to go out in including:
If you are a fan of live music, check out: Concorde2, The Green Door Store, Brighton Dome and The Brighton Centre
It’s always good to indulge in a little retail therapy especially on a weekend with the girls. Brighton is a shopper’s paradise filled with major stores and independent boutiques.
Churchill Square: Churchill Square is Brighton’s major shopping centre, situated close to the station and not far from the Laines and the beach. Here you will find all of your favourite stores including: Zara, Miss Selfridge, Next and Debenhams. Just outside of the shopping centre on Western Road are even more shops: Top Shop, Primark, Gap, and New Look.
North Laines: The North Laines have a unique mix of independent boutiques from handcrafted toys and gifts to vintage fashion; why not stop off for a cocktail in Myhotel in Jubilee Square.
The cities restaurants are first class with a huge choice of cuisines and styles, whether you prefer to dine al fresco or prefer a 5 star experience you will not be disappointed:
Donatello: In the heart of the Lanes, an affordable friendly Italian restaurant.
Gars: A modern authentic Chinese restaurant.
Las Iguanas: Lively Mexican restaurant which serve a mean Marguerita.
There are many cafes and restaurants along the beach, our pick of the best is the beach bar OhSo Social, situated close to the Pier it serves great burgers and has a fabulous sea view.
A short ten minute cab journey out of town past Kemp Town, is Brighton Marina, a good place to start your evening and grab a bite to eat. Restaurants here include: Prezzo and Pizza Express, visit www.brightonmarina.co.uk for more details on the choice of bars, restaurants and shops the marina has to offer.
Brightonian’s aka Brighton folk are a real mix of personalities and types. It ranges from far out hippies to the media savvy ex London peeps Mix that with the Students, the families and the gay crowd and you have an eclectic fun bunch.
One thing that everyone has in common is they always have a smile on their faces as they all love living in the city, so whoever you meet during your weekend you can guarantee they will be very welcoming and friendly. Keep an eye out for the many celebs that live in the area- they are often seen walking along the sea front.
